This course gives a comprehensive overview of the Electronic Security Industry in South Africa, covering the various disciplines, Legislative requirements and the functioning of SAIDSA, PSIRA, ESDA and ICASA.
The course also covers the basic components of an alarm system and their function as well as correct product selection and dealing with False Alarms.

Course 1 - (Module 2) - Intruder Detection Theory

This course explains the technology of intruder detection products and how each product functions. It covers Passive infrared detectors, Passive/Microwave combinations, Glassbreak Detection, Magnetic door contacts and Active Infrared.

Course 1 - (MODULE 3) - Intruder Alarm Installations

This course will guide you through the installation techniques required to install an intruder alarm system to a SAIDSA Bylaw 5 standard and also covers voltage drops, Resistor Colour codes and End-of-Line resistance.

Course 2 - Technical Sales (Intruder Alarms)

The technical sales course is designed to give Sales Consultants a deeper understanding of Alarm Components, Correct Detector selection and alarm technology and is loaded with sales techniques specifically geared for the Intruder alarm industry

Course 3 - (MODULE 1) - Video Surveillance Fundamentals

This module covers the fundamentals in CCTV and Video Surveillance and includes camera types and application, lighting requirements, Imaging principles, Operational Requirements, Risk Categories and Lens selection

Course 3 - (Module 2) - Video Surveillance Theory

This module explains Image quality and Resolution, Camera formats, Illumination (Part2), Image storage and compression, Frame rates, F-Stops and Scene management

Course 3 - (MODULE 3) Video Surveillance Planning & Installations

This module teaches correct cable selection, Video Baluns, Power supplies, Cable and camera protection, IP Ratings, Camera placement, Installation guidelines and Distance calculations.

Course 3 - (MODULE 4) - Advanced Video Surveillance Techniques

This module covers IP Technology, Networking, IP cameras, Video Recording, Bandwidth principles, Motion Detection, Video switching, Transmission mediums, Video Management and Analytics, Fault-finding, Testing and Commission.

COURSE 4 - TECHNICAL SALES (CCTV)

Course 5 - Intruder Alarms for Insurance Assessors

This course is designed to give Insurance Assessors an understanding of the workings of Intruder Alarm systems and their components in order to minimise the risk facing the Insurance Industry. The course includes Alarm Components, Correct Detector selection and alarm technology as well as best practice and SAIDSA standards.

Course 6 - (MODULE 1) - Fire Detection Fundamentals

This is an advanced course in Fire Detection. The course covers the Terminology, Principles of fire detection, Categories and legislative requirements of a fire alarm system and their function as well as correct product selection.

Due to its complexity, It is highly recommended that the learner completes the 4 modules of Intruder Alarms before attempting this course.

This module covers the recommendations and best practice principles of Fire Detection installations, workmanship and responsibility of the installer.

Course 6 - (MODULE 3) - Fire Detection System Commissioning, Handover and Maintenance

This module consists of all the reccomendations and requirements for Commissioning, Handover and Maintenance of an installed Fire Detection System and includes sample forms and certificates.

This course consists of two modules defining best practice and recommendations for the design of a Fire Detection system according to the SANS standard.
